Grandparents Day at the Grade School

For several years, David and I have been invited to Grandparents Day at the grade school of Brett's children. The 4th graders do a show for the grandparents and some perform with their grandparents. Every child makes a card with a description of each grandparent to present to them on this special day. This is our collection so far.

Here are the singers who did a great job.

We always enjoy our visits to the classroom afterward and the punch and cookies provided by our grandchild. This year was Matthew's turn. What a fun couple of hours. Thanks, Matthew.

Mother's Day

It's great to be a mom. It's great when you have a house full of children. It's great when they begin to fly the nest and it's great when they are all independent and you are back in the honeymoon days. It 's great when you have beautiful children calling you grandma. My lovely loved ones continue to make me feel special on this day.

John, Alison and Abby made a lovely picnic for us at Sugar House Park the Saturday before Mother's day. It was so nice to just sit on a blanket and visit with nothing else on the agenda. The food was great and so was the visit.Doesn't this look good? I can tell you it was delicious. We enjoyed the park and the family so much. Thank you my dear ones for such a lovely day.Abby came dressed in her softball uniform. She had had a very good day on the ball field. Lots of hits, outs and runs. Way to go.

To my great surprise and delight, Christopher was not only in charge of the dessert the next day but he decided to make it as well. After church in he came with armloads of grocery bags with every ingredient needed to make his delicious dessert. The only thing I helped with was to tell him where the measuring cups and spoons were. He baked the cookies which were covered with vanilla ice cream and topped with butterscotch/carmel topping. Yum. for sure.Brett brought a delicious salad that he prepared. Check out that face. It is a very confident man there making salad. It was delicious.This empty pan was once full of lucious lasagna by Lindsay. She was the main dish provider and all around organizer of this Mother's day event.  Everyone made an effort to make sure that I felt loved and appreciated. It worked. Thank you all for being my children. I am many times blessed by all of you. It was another great day. You all are the Mother's Day gift!

Southern Comfort

Because David had a week long business trip, it was only fair that I too spent a little time out of town. It's my excuse for going to a place I love. Georgia. Going to Atlanta in the spring is glorious. The dogwoods are in bloom and the azaleas are showing off in almost every yard. Sorry I never had my camera with me to prove all the glory of it. The best part is getting to visit our sweet family of six there. What a treat it is for me to be the live in help for a week. Carrie and I spent time visiting while trying to accomplish a few projects. I admit, I like to be busy and helping her is a joy to me. We had walks with Mitzi, we accompanied the little girls to the bus stop, we visited the homes of friends in the neighborhood so Carrie could share with me her wonderful and talented neighbors. I observed ballet and jazz classes of darling young dancers and I marveled at the unending talent of my daughter. We went to Christiana's performance, went shopping, went out to eat and all in all had a great time. When it was time to return home, the final goodbyes were tearful for me. 

 Eliza had it right when she said that all of her family everywhere should live close to each other. Thank you my darlings for the visit.

Easter

General Conference and Easter is a wonderful combination. Here are some pictures of that day.  The guests arrived with the melting snow.

I'm Back so here's the Update.

 It's Easter morning and we have been covered with snow again with a bigger storm coming later in the week. I am wondering about our Easter Egg Hunt today. The house is quiet but soon will be filled with the wonderful sounds of a family gathering. In these few minutes I will try to post a few pictures that will bring dear readers up to date on the happenings.

This was part of an ongoing birthday celebration. We celebrated with friends and family for about a week! So fun.

Sarah's high school play was the Boyfriend. She was a star of course. We went to my old high school, Highland where she attends the School for the Performing Arts within the school. Katherine played in the orchestra.
We took a trip to Orlando and we stayed at the beautiful Marriott Grande Vista Resort.Our first outing was church on Sunday morning. The ward was directly across the street from the Temple.

We then did all the touristy things like Sea World, Downtown Disney, Disney Hollywood and Epcot center. These are the pictures of all that fun.American Idol at Disney Hollywood. A show every hour or so. The winner of the day gets to be first in line at the next real audition. There was some pretty good talent. It was fun to vote electronically at our seats.

Epcot is always fun. Can you believe that these ostriches are made of plants? The grounds and entertainment are wonderful.Beauty and the Beast. Sorry the color isn't better but you can see how great the production was.

We had a great time. You can see why this is one of our favorite places to go.

We got another wonderful teenager this year. Katherine turned 13! How do you like my candle? It was all I could find. I have never run out of birthday candles before but it didn't seem to matter at all.
