Chrissy Boy - The Funky Uncle

This very day in 1976 a little baby boy was born to a grateful family of two brothers and two sisters. We celebrated another birthday Sunday afternoon because of his crazy, busy, work schedule at this time of year. Here are some highlights of then and now and before. Enjoy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTOPHER

Let the Party begin!

Who couldn't love this little baby?

A Children's Christmas Program

Every year we look forward to the grade school Christmas programs. There is nothing like this to send you back to your memories of days in school. This year we went to Abby's program which was great as usual. We had hoped to spend a bit more time with her after the show but it was school as usual. She ran out of her classroom to give us a hug and allow us to take this picture.

Sorry this isn't in good focus but you get the idea of how cute the kids are.  Merry Christmas.

The Devine Dinner

We wanted to thank the Bishopric for all their support for David in the ward so we invited them and their spouses for dinner. Our dear friend, Sister Devine, wanted to cook the dinner for us. What a treat that was. She is a gourmet cook and loves every aspect of preparing a meal. Going shopping with her for the food was a treat in itself. She said there just aren't enough meals to cook. I wish I felt like that. It was such a fun night with our friends and me not worrying about the food. I was just able to enjoy it all. Thanks dear friend. You are a blessing.

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas

Winter has arrived with all it's glory.

I'm not sure that the birds can find their breakfast.
The Grandchildren's Tree
Each grandchild has an Snow Babies ornament purchased the year they were born. Every Christmas they ask "Which one is mine?" I have to go to my list to tell them.

I decided to simplify the mantle this year. Can you find the mice?

Close up of the grandchildren tree. This Snow Baby is Christiana's and Samuels is in the background on the left beside the little bird.
This pic is a washed out version of the family room tree. It looks great in person.
So now we are ready and it is time for you to Come over!

We Have Everything

It was bedtime and my daughter, Carrie, was helping 8 year old Eliza through the bedtime rituals. Eliza was tucked into her bed, covered with her quilt, her stuffed pet, Rascal, nestled safely under her little arm when her mom asked:

"What do you want Santa to bring you for Christmas this year?"
Eliza scanned the room with her bright blue eyes, took a deep breath and with a big smile and shaking her head said "I just don't know, because I already have everything!"

As a child, Eliza found the fullness of her life in her lovely bedroom with a closet full of clothing, and shelves filled with books and toys. She felt the love of her family and a great sense of well being so Eliza does have everything. As I thought about it I realized that we too have everything because we have everything that counts; great family, great friends and The Gospel of Jesus Christ which blesses our lives every day.
This pic of Eliza is just before her baptism when she received her Scriptures.

Thirsty?

This is a picture of Connie from Colorado, Christopher and Lindsay.
Here's the story. Chris had taken a motorcycle trip through his mission area this summer and stopped in on Connie. She was a woman who had sought the true church for a long time and had decided that it was not on the earth. She had decided that she would just wait for the time when Christ would come and He would establish His Church.
Christopher was serving in her area and called on her and was told that she definately was not interested. She did not want the Book of Mormon or another visit. She had studied every religion even the eastern religions to no avail. She was impressed with the clean cut young men however, and later told her young son that there were good young guys in the world and she wished that he could have been at home that day to meet them. Her son was leaning toward the gang side.
As they were talking, Chris and his companion were literally at a cross road deciding which way to go. Chris said "lets go see Connie." So they did.  When they approached the door Connie was inside talking to her son but heard one of the missionaries say "Maybe she will give us a drink of water." She remembered the scripture "When saw we thee hungry and gave thee meat and when saw we thirsty and gave thee drink?" She thought "at least I can give them a drink of water" so she invited them in.
They were introduced to her son and he wanted to hear a lesson right then. So they taught him the first discussion and asked him to read some scriptures in the Book of Mormon. Connie wanted to know what was being taught and what her son had been asked to read so she sat in on the lesson and after they left, Connie, wanting to make sure that she knew what her son was being ask to read, she read. That was all there was to it. She was converted!
She recently moved to Salt Lake City and as she and Chris had been keeping in touch, we invited her to brunch on Conference Sunday. It was great to meet her and hear her side of this story which I tired to correctly relate to you. It was such a blessing to hear her speak of her gratitude for our son and the saving gospel that he brought to her that day.
